On October 24, the AAB collaborated with VISA and organized a Workshop with the presence of two VISA CEMEA experts, Mrs. Anzhela Kashperuk, Solutions Manager, and Mr. Srdjan Tutoric, Sr. Account Manager, Visa. High level representative from Card and Operations departments of the AAB member banks, attended the event.
This Workshop focused on important topics, such as: 3DS mandates; How banks can increase E- Comm business; The process of absorbing VBN publications; Product processing mandate roadmap. Both experts shared their experiences and knowledge with the participants.

On 12 June 2019, the AAB with the Facilization, an IT services and software business focused in providing full-fledged services in the Banking and Financial Services vertical, co – organized a workshop on Open Banking & PSD2 (the revised Payment Services Directive). In view of the PSD2 Directive of the EU, the workshop aimed at building understanding on the new banking environment that Open Banking revolution will create. Representatives from the commercial banks, Facilization and RedHat companies attended the workshop.
Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, AAB Secretary General and Mr. Gjergj Guri, CEO of Facilization welcomed the participants and opened the workshop.
Mr. Endri Gjino, Head of Software Development, and Mr. Klodian Hima, Manager at Facilization, held presentations introducing the attendees with PSD2 user cases and PSD2 Open Banking, which will mark the evolution of technology and signal the beginning of a new more competitive landscape that will benefit consumers.
The workshop was also addressed by Mr. Filip Dalek, channel sales and Mr. Andrzej Kowalczyk solutions architect at RedHat, who introduced the Red Hat technologies.
In conclusion, the AAB Secretary General thanked the attendees for their participation, and informed on the new draft-law on payments services, which will approximate our payments system with the PSD2 Directive of the EU and aims to promote the creation of an innovative payments system in Albania, decrease of cash transactions and the creation of adequate conditions to boost competition, foster transparency and enhance the security of the payments systems.
On May 9, was organized the annual meeting of UGM. The meeting consisted of two parts and was attended by member banks representatives such as: CISO – Chief Information Security Officers; IT director/managers; SWIFT main contacts and Bank of Albania representatives.
The meeting was focused on the developments on the SWIFT platform and costumer security and compliance programmes update.
On 27 February, the CEOs of commercial banks held a meeting with the State Minister for Protection of Entrepreneurship, Eduard Shalsi. The focus of the discussion was the improvement of business climate. During the meeting the participants emphasized the sustainability, credibility, regulatory supervision, liquidity of banks and the necessity for further credit. In addition, they raised concerns about several issues such as: the efficiency of public administration, the fiscal treatment of banks and business, the issue of property rights, de-euroization, cash reduction in the economy and the fight against informality, electronic signature, delays in reimbursement of state obligations, the directive of two ministers on private bailiff’s fees, the current situation, the opportunity to financing of the economy, etc. The parties expressed their willingness to address these concerns and to resolve them.
